Centre for Agricultural Technology Augustenberg (LTZ)
As a non-incorporated institution under the auspices of the Ministry of Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection of Baden-Württemberg (MLR), the LTZ conducts applied research and laboratory investigations in agronomy (focussed on arable farming) as a basis for providing advice and supporting policy decisions within the state of Baden-Württemberg, south-western Germany. The LTZ is active in applied research and knowledge exchange on a broad range of topics, which range from questions of soil fertility and seed quality to sustainable production systems (conventional and organic) in crop production and include aspects of soil, water and climate-protection as well as consumer-protection. As a regional institute it collaborates with similar institutions in other regions of Germany as well as with France and Switzerland and participates in specific international networks.
Role in the project
As manager of Actor Group 2 (The German Soybean Association), LTZ contributes to several national projects dealing with grain legumes, including soybeans, peas and faba beans, as well as regional projects aimed to increase the use of regional protein sources. In Legume Translations, LTZ contributes to all work packages with actor group involvement.
